They are hard to identify due to the fact that they can’t make up there mind whether it is genetic or from environmental issues. Of course there are things we know that do cause cancer with prolonged exposure. Now that we have more knowledge on carcinogens we can identify them quicker.

I think it is difficult to identify because cancer may take characteristics of its surrounding environment.
