We all know that prostate cancer can happen to any male and it is a very common type of cancer. The commonest form of cancer in the United States today is skin cancer but, to many people’s surprise, prostate cancer is the second most frequently seen type of cancer and results in some 30,000 deaths each year. According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, this type of cancer is the most prevalent non-skin cancer in the United States.

A prostate seed implant may be the only type of radiation therapy needed by a man with low-risk prostate cancer or it may be prescribed in addition to external beam radiation therapy in men with intermediate- and high- risk prostate cancer. If caught in its early stages prostate cancer can be successfully treated either by surgery or radiation therapy (radiotherapy) and, while such treatment can often leave its mark in terms of ongoing problems with urination or a degradation or loss of sexual function, the cancer will often not return. Curing prostate cancer is possible, and the treatment is more effective if cancer is detected in the early stages.

Curing prostate cancer is possible, but the condition has to be detected in the early stages. Because prostate cancer is a relatively slow-growing disease and easy to control if it is detected early enough, the regular screenings are recommended for obese people experiencing the above symptoms. Although the aforementioned prostate statistics don’t seem to be good, the truth of the matter is that if prostate cancer is detected early, treatments are often very successful and chances of surviving are very high.

Although the same researchers were quick to point out that each year fewer and fewer men are dying of prostate cancer, due to awareness, better treatments and early detection through new and more available screening techniques. In order to catch prostate cancer in its early stages, it is recommended that men with no risk factors get an annual screening every year beginning at age 50. In addition, beginning at age 50, an annual PSA test is necessary because it is substantially more sensitive for men health than DRE when it comes to detecting early, tiny, or even microscopic cancers that are confined to the prostate gland.

In addition, another confusing aspect is that most of the possible warning signs, if they appear, are also the same signs for other prostate health problems that are non-cancerous in nature, such as BPH, which is called an enlarged prostate gland. I’m sure that we’ve all heard at some point or another the notion that more sex is the solution to prostate problems, citing as evidence the high incidence of prostate cancer in celibate priests. This could be the first time an evidence is produced that a virus is related to prostate cancer development.

Probably, the conclusion that drugs lowering cholesterol may help prevent prostate cancer or at least decrease its development is premature. Sun exposure prevent prostate cancer and the new research suggest vitamin D in supplement may be a safer option today for men. Researchers shown that vitamin D has many micronutrients promote and prevent the prostate cancer in men.

Chemotherapy is typically not effective against prostate cancer although newer drugs developed in recent years have shown the ability to relieve symptoms in men with advanced prostate cancer. According to Prostate Cancer Foundation, symptoms of the ailment include a necessity to urinate very often, weak urine flow, difficulty in starting urination, painful or burning urination, painful ejaculation, blood cells in the semen or urine, as well as frequent pain and cramps in the lower back, hips and upper thighs. One of the most common symptoms listed above is the difficulty starting to pass urine, but keep your eye out for the others.

One of the quit smoking ways many have found to help is to figure the cost of smoking and plan on a reward for yourself with the money saved from not smoking. For the same of even numbers, assume you smoke $5 worth of cigarettes per day. At the end of the year you could buy yourself something nice with that $1,875 if you are a one pack a day smoker. If you smoke more than that, imagine the reward you could get.

If rewarding yourself for healthy behavior does not offer you enough incentive, think about your family, especially if you have small children in the home. The vast majority of parents claim they want only what is good for their children, then fill the air with smoke for them to inhale and potentially become ill from breathing. Take a look at your children and think of the quit smoking ways you will try to give them a better, healthier life.

The government supports hospitals to treat the many illnesses that smokers acquire, so the government has teamed up with those in the medical services to provide preventative measures. Many experts believe that preventative measures are much less expensive that caring for patients after they are afflicted by problems caused by smoking.

Some government organizations have even asked for special funds to provide help and tips to quit smoking. In California this year, there was a measure on the ballot to raise extra funds to provide help and tips to quit smoking. This measure did not pass but legislators will try to find other means to raise the necessary funds.

There are two aspects of smoking to consider when attempting quitting and those are the physical addiction and the mental addiction. The addiction to nicotine will last about three days until it is flushed from your system. The mental addiction will take much longer and will require more quit smoking tips to help you be successful.

Laser techniques, hypnosis or a number of other methods can be used to help end the addition to nicotine, but to help keep your mind from remembering the addiction or to help ignore it, you will need some quit smoking tips that will work for you. Most times when people try to quit, and many try three or four time or more before succeeding, they harbor the negative thoughts that they are not going to make it. And, they usually do not.

There are millions of people around the world who suffer with acne (Zits); fortunately treatments are improving all the time. Medical investigation and research is ongoing and making interesting discoveries; as a result there are a variety of new products available to help prevent and treat skin conditions. Despite the number of acne skin care products currently available on the market, they are broadly categorized into three distinctly separate groups: *Preventative: Creams, lotions etc. to help cleanse and tone the skin *Internet or Drugstore: Treatment to help relieve the condition *Prescription only: Requires visit to doctor.

Preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to control the occurrence of acne; products like skin cleansers and toners fall into this category. This is a market where many people use this type of product every day to condition their skin; many use these products to protect their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition. Many of these cleansers act in almost exactly the same way as acne skin care products; devised primarily to limit the amount of oil or sebum forming in the pores. These types of products are reducing the chance of oil staying in the pores and aiding the growth of harmful bacteria which assists the formation of the skin condition.

General skin care treatments also include special exfoliation products like skin peels; these can be bought easily over the counter or on the internet. This type of peel helps reduce the chance of oil clogging up the pores as well as removing other skin impurities; this can reduce the bacterium growth on your skin. There are specialized acne skin care products available over-the-counter, they do not require the need of a prescription. These formulations contain the chemical benzoyl peroxide and the naturally occurring salicylic acid; they work by removing the excess oil from the skin and halt the growth of acne.

Dermatologists recommend any product should have low concentrations of the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide (no more than 5.5 parts per hundred) if there is an adverse reaction; should a reaction occur, products containing alpha hydroxy acid are generally safer. It is not always possible to find an acne skin care product that works first time; however, if finding an effective remedy it is proving to be a problem then consult with your doctor, or skin care specialist. On-prescription treatments are prescribed by a dermatologist and can include ointments that can be applied on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical ointment.

In more serious cases your skin care specialist may decide that a small surgical procedure can be used to remove the oil and infection from your pores; this is not something you should ever attempt yourself. Your doctor may even suggest a course of hormone therapy as a skin care treatment; this type of skin care treatment has been very effective in many cases. Tackling this skin condition is not the problem it once was and if treated properly permanently marked skin does not have to happen.

The awareness of skin cancer increases everyday as more is known about the disease and more exposure is given to preventing the disease on television and radio than ever before. It is thought to be the most common form of cancer in the United States and Australia alone.

Whilst you might think that this is cause for concern, most forms of skin cancer are easy to treat and don’t pose a threat to life. Also the signs and symptoms of skin cancer are generally on the surface of the skin so are easy to spot. this means they can be treated early on, ensuring complete success.

However there is one form of the disease that can be life threatening if not caught early on. This is malignant melanoma. This article will discuss what is malignant melanoma and ways to prevent the disease.

It is generally accepted that any form of cancer is caused based on your genetic predisposition and your exposure to certain environmental conditions. When it comes to malignant melanoma, the environmental condition is thought to be exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVA and UVB radiation). And the most common source of ultraviolet radiation that we are exposed to is the Sun (however things like sunbeds or tanning salons are just as bad if not worse ).

Being exposed to too much ultraviolet radiation can cause the DNA of a cell to mutate. The genes in the DNA that cause this are called oncogenes and make the cell cancerous. A characteristic of a cancerous cell is that it does not die but divides and multiplies. Sometimes this can happen at a rapid pace and the cancerous cells become invasive.

Invasive growth harms the surrounding tissues and organs. In some cases the cancerous growths can prevent the organs from functioning or can start to grow into the organs culminating with the destruction of the organ. Should the cancer get into the lymphatic system then it can spread throughout the body. When this occurs it becomes hard to stop the spread and difficult to treat.

So, whilst ultraviolet radiation and our exposure to sunlight is thought to be the primary environmental cause of malignant melanoma, there are a number of genetic factors that increase the risk.

Having a family member who has or had skin cancer in the past increases your chances of developing the disease. If your skin burns easily in the sun and turns red rather than tanning then you are more at risk. If you have light colored eyes or blond or red hair then you are more at risk. If you have moles on your body then you are more at risk to skin cancer.

Melanoma can start as a brown mark or spot on the skin. This may be hard to distinguish from an ordinary mole however if it starts to change color or gets larger then this may be a sign of melanoma. If you notice something like this happening on your body you should see a doctor.

It is virtually impossible to completely avoid sunlight and thus prevent melanoma. The only thing that is practical is to take measure to avoid being over exposed to the Sun. This means always wearing a hat and sunglasses. Wear clothing that covers most of your body. Put sunscreen on areas that are not covered by the clothing, like the face or arms.

There was a film in the early 1990’s starring Sean Connery as a research scientist who discovers the cure for cancer; medical research continues to advance in it’s war with this disease that plagues humanity. Although there are other more awful diseases, this one holds the crown at the moment because of how often it is diagnosed; a cure would bring a sigh of relief everywhere. Whilst we do know about some of the causes of cancer, no-one can predict who, where or when it will be triggered.

First off it is a good idea to understand exactly what cancer is and try to ascertain whether it is hereditary or something you can acquire. This is a disease where unhealthy cells grow, divide and then expand into other cells, often transferring to parts of the body using a method called metastasis.

The malignant property of cancer differentiates it from benign tumors which limit their growth and do not invade or metastasize. Some benign tumors, however, are capable of becoming malignant. Whilst it is not generally a young person’s disease, it can occur at any age; Statistics show that the number of people cancer kills globally each year is about 13 in every one hundred.

Cancerous cells may have been transformed by radiation or poison, cigarettes for example and this creates genetic abnormality in those cells which then continue to grow and divide.

For some people the problem lies not with any form of external poison although faults with their parents DNA or genetic makeup can result in a person being born with the diseased cells. It would seem some people are more susceptible to it than others and it may be their genetic makeup and their exposure to certain carcinogens that is responsible.

Long term research has given a better picture of what cancer is and the study of cancer is one of the top ten diseases being researched throughout the world. We are always learning more about diseases and how they affect our bodies and minds. We are continually trying to find out why this disease attacks some and not others. By understanding the origins of cancer, perhaps we will be able to avoid contracting it until we come up with a cure.

One of the major causes surrounds food and dietary habits. Your regular diet could be putting you at long term risk from all kinds of diseases. Some of the foodstuffs that could be causing these problems are salt, saturated fats and dairy products. A high calcium intake could possibly be responsible for cases of prostrate cancer in men.

Cancer can affect any part of the body from the bones, blood, skin or organs. nowhere is safe from it. Sometimes the disease is only picked up through routine screening. Usually the cancer is at an early stage and a person may have a better chance of being cured. The number of different types of cancer that can be treated has increased dramatically in recent years with so much intensive research being carried out.

Advancements in medical techniques mean that cancer in many cases can be treated and often completely cured; it is only a matter of time before a complete cure is discovered

Cancer is one of the most dreaded ailments and it takes many humans by surprise. Healthy human beings are often diagnosed with cancer for unexplained reasons. However, some factors have been found that are responsible. There is a general misconception cancer is incurable. If detected in the early to middle level stages, some forms of cancer can be cured. However, if the cancerous growth has reached the final stage, there is no cure. Cancer treatment and cancer support has evolved into a super specialty area. A number of hospitals and research institutions are now involved in cancer support.

Cancer has a social stigma attached to it whereby people often come to the conclusion that it is not curable. On the contrary, cures are now available. There are various kinds of the disease. These include brain cancer or tumors, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, blood cancer, intestinal cancer, breast cancer and skin cancer. There are more categories that hit the internal organs. Extensive research is being carried out by the medical institutions to find early intervention measures that will cure this ailment.

Various therapies and treatments have evolved and been standardized by medical institutions. These therapies have been found to be successful in cancer treatment and support. Treating cancer successfully often involves either surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, chemical therapy and/or medicinal therapy. Some people also follow alternative medicine therapy. Surgery is used in extreme cases wherein the cancerous growth and cells are removed by operating. This has been known to save lives at times. However, surgery is risky.

Chemotherapy for cancer treatment refers to using a variety of chemicals to kill the cancerous cells. However, the body has to be tested against various allergies before this treatment can take place. If the patient responds well to chemotherapy, it should be continued. However, if the patient responds poorly chemotherapy should be dropped. Only certain categories of cancer can be treated with this therapy. For example, in the case of blood cancer, chemotherapy may not have the desired effect. Radiation therapy refers to exposing the cancerous cells to radiation for elimination. This type of cancer treatment is found to be the most successful.

I’ve been experiencing a few minor health issues lately, such as fatigue and general sluggishness. I visited my doctor, who immediately ruled out any serious underlying causes.

His only advice was the usual stuff about limiting my intake of caffeine, eating healthier food, and getting enough good rest.

However, the problem is that I already do those things, but haven’t noticed any improvements in my condition at all. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to consult with an expert in alternative medicine treatment, so I made an appointment last weekend.

This guy suggested that detoxification might be in order — not from drugs or alcohol, of course, but from all the harmful toxins that I’ve consumed in processed foods over the years.

He then recommended several colon cleaanse products for me to try.

I have never used colon cleanse products before, so I wanted to do a bit more research on my own before going out and buying anything like this.

Specifically, I wanted to find out if these colon cleanse products would truly be beneficial for my body, and whether or not I’d have to worry about any unknown side effects.

I also was looking for information about how to do the procedure, since I wasn’t sure what would be involved.

I’ve spent the last few days checking different alternative medicine websites to read about why periodical body cleansing is helpful.

There are hundreds of sites out there that address all the different aspects of detoxification and cleansing, so I was able to find a lot of excellent information about the general process, as well as details about what the over-the-counter colon cleanse products actually do.

For example, I have learned that residue from food toxins can build up at various spots along your colon’s wall, which can then cause irritation, inflammation, and reduced function in the long run.

Furthermore, the residue collects excess mucus and additional waste, thereby becoming a prime breeding ground for bacteria inside the colon.

The bacteria can lead to a whole host of physical ailments, including the fatigue I’ve been suffering from.

Good colon cleanse products can help remove this waste, and resolve the health issues stemming from harmful toxin buildup.

After reading this info, I definitely wanted to try colon cleanse products for myself. I pulled out the list of recommendations that the specialist had given to me, and looked those items up online.

I found that they were indeed highly rated by users, so I decided to go ahead and order two different ones. The website I went to offered full cleansing kits for a big discount and free shipping, which made my decision even easier.

My colon cleanse products are now on the way and should be here within the next few days. I can’t wait to see what kind of beneficial effects they’ll have on my body!

Spotting Squamous Skin Cancer

Skin cancer seems to be getting a lot of attention of late. There are ad campaigns and public service announcements on television and radio. This may be due to the increased understanding of the disease or that the number of cases are rising and people need education on the subject. There are three types of skin cancer - malignant melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. This article will deal with detecting squamous cell carcinoma.

The initial signs of squamous cell skin cancer could be a red spot or mark on the epidermis or top layer of the skin. The mark will be raised from the skin. It will grow larger with time and can often develop into an irregular shaped blemish. To the touch, it will feel scaly and hard. As the cancer develops the blemish may develop a lesion and bleeding may come from it. Squamous skin cancer develops to surrounding skin cells quite often if not treated.

Another type of squamous skin cancer is called Bowen’s disease. It generally occurs in people over sixty and is more common in women. It’s typical signs are a large red rash on the surface of the skin. It is slightly elevated from the skin and had a pronounced edge. As it develops the rash will become scaly to the touch and lesions may develop.

A mature squamous cell carcinoma can often look like a large open ulcer on the surface of the skin. It will bleed often and require constant attention. The cancerous cells can form anywhere on the body but are more commonly found in areas that get most exposed to sunlight or other forms of UV rays. So look for them on the face, ears neck, upper back and arms.

People soon spot squamous cell skin cancer on the face as they are very conscious of their appearance. In these cases it is noticed in the early stages and can be treated successfully. Treatment could range from freezing the cancerous cells to excision. It is done in the doctor’s surgery and can be a quick as 30 minutes.

Take preventative steps so that you never have to go through the diagnosis and treating of squamous skin cancer. Prevention involves limiting your exposure to ultra-violet radiation. The principle source of this is sunlight. Spend as little time in the sun as you can. You may also have skin that is more susceptible to UV rays. This will be obvious as you will burn easily in the sun.

If you must go out in the sun then wear protective clothing and a wide brimmed hat. Wear eye protection and sunscreen. You should reapply the sunscreen every few hours (or the recommended usage advice on the sunscreen bottle).
