Are you carrying around a little more weight than you would like? Possibly a lot more weight than you would like and you have to do something about it? You are not without company. The obesity epidemic in America is out of control. Obesity is also a growing problem around the world as American fast-food franchises open in countries that have never had this problem on a large-scale.

Being overweight can lead to severe health issues. Having too much extra weight can make you more prone to heart problems, diabetes, strokes, and some types of cancer. You deserve to enjoy life, being unhealthy when you can do something about it is no way to live.

Just because you are on a low calorie diet does not mean you have to starve yourself or eat nothing but sprouts and brand. Understanding this can help you stay determined and take off some of that weight that is making you unhealthy. Some weight loss programs can make you weak and hungry. The good news is you don’t have go through this to lose weight. In fact it is much easer to loose weight if you eat enough of the right foods so you don’t get weak and hungry. If you eat healthy foods you will lose weight naturally and keep it off.

It is better that you do not feel hungry. Our bodies tell us that we had better eat when we are hungry. It is a matter of self-preservation, the problem is then we eat foods we should not and we eat too much. It is better to eat smaller regular meals and keep from getting hungry and gorging on ding dongs. If you eat a healthy diet long enough your body will not crave ding dongs.

A low calorie diet with foods you like will help you stick to a healthy eating plan and reach your weight loss goals. Keeping yourself from getting hungry is a key to not overeating. It is also the key to keeping from being miserable. Don’t think of it as a diet, think of it as foods you like to eat that will not add fat.

How to Loose Weight

Eating more calories than you can burn will cause you to gain weigh. Take in less calories than you burn and you will lose weight. The best way to do it is to eat less calories, and increasing the number of calories you burn at the same time. Work out and eat better, notice I did not say, “eat less food”. Eating better is always preferable to eating less. You may find foods that you like that you can eat as much as you like, as long as you do not eat any more Twinkies and walk around the block. It sounds simple and it is but this is the best safe weight loss plan. Learn what foods you like that are low calorie and eat more of them. Each week add a new food and cut out a high calorie food.

Quick weight loss diet plans work in the short run but if you want to keep it off for life you must eat fewer calories, and increasing the number of calories you burn. Your body will not like you and you will not feel good if you go back and forth between gaining weight and then doing the latest fast weight loss diet or taking weight loss pills to get it off for the next prom. For some of us there is always the next prom or reunion we need to get ready for. When it is over we go back to our normal way of eating. I understand this because I did this for years.

Another important point is that you are not eating a low calorie healthy diet to be skinny. Skinny for you may not be healthy; to me skinny people do not look right. It makes me want to buy them lunch or have them over for dinner. If you are not meant to be skinny than why make yourself miserable trying to get there. A healthy weight is different for everyone.

Even worse is believing you have to be skinny to be happy. Be happy now, enjoy the body you have and eat healthy to get to a weight that a healthy weight for you. If you want to take 10 lbs off for the prom that is one thing but if you want to keep it off for your 10 year reunion that’s something all together different.

Hard Contact Lenses

Hard contact lenses, which are also known as rigid gas permeable or RPG lenses, are made from a semi-stiff plastic that is tough, but will still allow oxygen to pass through to the eye.

Hard contact lenses often the best choice for the single most important part of vision correction, out of all the varieties of contact lenses available, hard lenses turn in the best results in terms of helping the wearer see more clearly.

On the downside, they can’t correct all vision problems, and the vision improvements may not be quite as good as they would be with hard contact lenses.

Extended Wear Contacts

Depending on the manufacturer, extended wear lenses may be available in the soft and or hard varieties and can be worn for up to almost a week without having to remove them. Extended wear lenses often require regular follow up visits to the optician in order to get the best results and they should be replaced at least once annually to help ensure the highest level of vision correction.

Extended Wear Disposable

This type of lens can be worn for a number of consecutive nights (anywhere from a few to five or six) before being discarded. Extended wear disposable lenses such as Acuvue contacts require little or no cleaning.

You’re vision may not be quite as crisp with these as it would with hard contact lenses and extended wear disposables can be a little bit more difficult to handle than other types of contact lenses

Planned Replacement Contact Lenses

These are soft daily wear contacts that are replaced according to a set schedule (i.e. on a monthly basis). They require just a simple cleaning in order to maintain proper eye health, but like the extended wear disposable contact lenses they don’t correct vision problems quite as crisply as may the hard contact lenses, and they can’t correct all vision problems.

Sometimes a person who is considering making a switch from glasses to contacts will have to go through some or all of the styles before choosing which one if the best possible option for their particular situation. Several factors can go into determining which contact lens is the best for each individual person. Exactly how well each type of lens handles what your particular vision problem is, how active you are, how steadfast you’ll be when it comes to the cleaning and maintenance of your lenses and how much money you can afford to spend could all potentially be deciding factors on which contact lens will or won’t suit your vision correction situation.

Low back pain, back pain, lumbar pain, spinal pain, all are names for the troublesome and very common problem which affects many of us at certain times in our lives. Physiotherapists assess and treat large number of back pain patients every day and have various treatment techniques to help this condition.

Back pain is rarely an indication of serious underlying medical condition such as cancer, infection or arthritic disease but the physiotherapist needs to be sure he or she is dealing with a non-serious back pain. Standard exclusion questions are asked by the physio to rule out loss of weight, loss of appetite, previous cancer history, bowel and bladder control, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, epilepsy, particular pain problems at night and generally feeling ill.

By now the patient’s response should reassure the physiotherapist that they are dealing with a mechanical low back pain where the physical stresses on the back tissues are responsible for the pain. The physio will have noted the patient’s movement and posture during the initial parts of the consultation and then moves on to examining the spine directly. Postural abnormalities are noted such as scoliosis, reduced or increased spinal curves, preferential weight bearing on one leg and differences in leg length. These findings all fit into the overall diagnostic picture.

The physiotherapy diagnosis is based on the changes in normal spinal movements. Limitation of spinal flexion (bending forward) is common with reduced range, guarding and some worsening of the pain during or at the end of this movement and other spinal movements. The physiotherapist may test the strength of the muscles and reflexes, the ability to feel sensations in the legs, hip movements and the sacro-iliac joints. Testing of the movements between the individual spinal joints can indicate where the pain, instability or stiffness might be produced.

The treatment goals and plan will be formulated with references to the findings during the examination e.g. a joint, disc or postural problem. A painful spinal joint will need careful treatment with gentle exercises, pacing, reduction in aggravating factors and pain-killers. A stiff spinal joint can cope with stronger manual techniques and exercises to stretch out the stiff tissues.

Core stability and Pilates techniques are widely covered in the media and used by most if not all trainers in gyms and athletic clubs. Scientific research has shown the importance of the stabilising muscle groups in the spine and pelvis to maintaining normal neutral spinal posture and preventing overstrains. Patients start with simple stabilising work on a plinth, progressing to maintaining stability against more resistance and finally in functional or sporting activities.

Spinal joints do not appreciate being at end of their range for too long such as remaining slumped in sitting for a long period. This stretches the ligaments and can cause and maintain a pain problem. Physios teach patients to understand the new strange posture they are being asked to perform is the norm and that they need to perform it regularly until they do it naturally.

McKenzie technique is followed by many spinal physiotherapists. This therapy holds that certain postures and movements affect the central disc material, the nucleus pulposus, either causing it to increase pressure on the posterior wall of the intervertebral disc or to reduce the pressure. The physiotherapist asks the patient to do repetitive movements in one direction to establish a “directional preference” which either worsens or improves the symptoms. From this the physio forms a treatment plan based on which direction of movement causes the desirable disc changes which alter the symptoms in the desired manner.

Apart from treatment the patient needs to consider changing some aspects of their behaviour if the treatment is going to get the best result. Pacing activity to avoid overdoing activities and suffering afterwards is important, allowing the problem to ease. Aerobic and muscle fitness in the gym or pool has good scientific evidence behind it for reducing the number and severity of back pain episodes, while many back pain treatments have little evidence to prove their effectiveness.

Yeast infections are very common and do not just effect the genital parts of a person’s body. 3. Apple Cider Vinegar – This cure for yeast infections is also effective and like garlic can be used both internally and externally. 4. Oil of Oregano – This is another effective cure for yeast infections and should be taken on a daily basis following the instructions of those who produce the treatment. It is best that you use an oil of oregano supplement that contains a high level of carvacrol in it. It is this part of the oil which actually works to kill of the yeast that is growing and causing the infection.

In 2007, Hawaii enacted the first universal health insurance law for children in the country. State Legislature created the program, Keiki Care, to provide health insurance coverage for all children, regardless of income level.

Keiki Care entitled children that were enrolled in this program to free heath coverage, along with a $7 co payment for a doctor visit, reported CNN and the Associated Press. Governor Linda Lingle decided to kill this program seven months later, because of a $900 budget deficit by 2011.

Governor Lingle’s actions are resulting in 2,000 children in Hawaii losing health insurance coverage. Her administration cites that most of the Keiki Care enrolled children has dropped theri previous insurance for this free coverage.

Some Hawaiian residents were taken aback with the Governor’s decision. An administrator for the state Department of Human Services stated, “People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free. I don’t believe that was the intent of the program.”

A spokesperson for the Hawaii Medical Service Association was credited with saying, “We’re very disappointed in the state’s decision, and it came as a complete surprise to us. We believe the program is working, and given Hawaii’s economic uncertainty, we don’t think now is the time to cut all funding for this kind of program.” There a couple items we visualize with this cut in the program.

It is odd that the governor would sign the program into law in 2007, but did not foresee a deficit in the budget in the next few years. Besides the fact that 2,000 children will be without the insurance, it doesn’t add up, politically, that the law would be signed, then killed soon after. There are lawmakers in agreement with us.

“Children are a lot more vulnerable in terms of needing care. It’s not very good to try to be a leader and then renege on that commitment,” stated Hawaii Senator Suzanne Chun Oakland. And, when it was mentioned that the people who enrolled in Keiki Care dropped their private insurance to do so, we are wondering if that was because they were trying to cheat the system, or if they were paying too much for their own private coverage? We would all like to hear an explanation from the governor on this.

Growing older, we realize many changes going on within our mind and with our body.

At this time, the body and mind is saying you need to take charge and stay active yourself and in shape. Our health in very important and needs interaction everyday to keep it in control.
