Joining your local Freecycle list is another great way to live greener. Don’t throw things away ? put them on the list and look there for things you need instead of buying new items. Odds are, someone will want what you’ve got to give away. By the same token, if there’s something you need, it is more than likely to be found for the taking there as well. This keeps these items out of landfills and saves everyone money.

When you do things around the house, there are a lot of green products you can use that cost very little. If you replace your standard incandescent light bulbs with energy-saver bulbs, you can save a considerable amount on your energy bill, and the costs of the bulbs are very similar to the incandescent bulbs. These compact fluorescents last much longer than a traditional bulb as well as using less energy.

Out in the yard, solar lights can save energy and help illuminate dark areas. There are enough different designs on the market now at varying prices to make them affordable to most people. They don’t require an electrician to install them, and with the new solar technologies, they are brighter than solar lights used to be. They even have solar powered holiday lights you can use to decorate your yard without using cords and increasing your electric bill.

Another great way to save money while doing something to live greener is to use rechargeable batteries ? these have greatly improved in recent years and are long lasting, easy too use and of course save money as well. When the batteries are finally used up and cannot take another charge, they may be recycled at almost any hardware store.

Injecting Synvisc into the region of the body (usually the knee) affected by osteoarthritis (OA) is named Synvisc therapy. Synvisc and Potential Side Effects

A number of safety tests were conducted on Synvisc injections before using it on humans. Results of the studies point out that synvisc is noninflammatory, nonantigenic, and non-toxic. To this day, it has been administered on millions of arthritics.

Generally, synvisc does not cause any side effects. On the other hand, because synvisc is directly injected into the joint, there are remote cases where patients complained of some swelling, discomfort, or pain in or around the knee. Nevertheless, this occurred only in very rare cases and the risks involved are minimal at best.

Scary as it may seem, however, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have any solution to the cause of spider veins. Exercise, proper diet, wearing of leg hose, and even surgical treatments are the tried-and-tested solution to this cosmetic dilemma.

The Shangri-La diet or fructose diet as it is sometimes referred to, was invented by University of California at Berkeley professor Seth Roberts, Ph.D, using himself as a guinea pig.

Roberts believes in the Set Point theory, in which each person has a control system built into their bodies that dictates how much fat he or she should carry. He explains that “your set point is the weight your body is aiming you toward.” When your weight is less than your set point your feel hungry. When it’s about the same you feel comfortable. When your weight is over your set point you feel full.

The point of the fructose diet is to feel satisfied and Roberts believes he has it figured out. After trial and error, his solution calls for drinking extra light olive oil or unflavored canola oil and unflavored granulated fructose between meals. He says that drinking this formula tricks the body into thinking that your weight is higher than its set point, therefore you’ll feel full.

The fructose diet or Shangri-la diet calls for drinking 2-5 tablespoons of extra-light olive oil or the calorie equivalent in unflavored sugar water (fructose) each day 1 hour before eating. Drinking it before eating supposedly reduces your appetite and therefore you will eat less.

Roberts says that “our set point is determined by the flavors that we eat.” When you eat something, the flavors are remembered by your brain. Your stomach also sends signals that registers calories. The brain connects the flavors with the calories. The stronger that connections is, the more your set point goes up. Hence the reason for drinking unflavored granulated sugar and unflavored extra light olive oil. Since their is no flavor, the connection to food is minimal.

You’ll find testimonial after testimonial in his book, The Shangri-La Diet. However, there are many doctors and nutritionists who are highly skeptical of this fructose diet. Many claim it to be outright dangerous. There is much scientific evidence which show fructose may in fact be a contributor to the obesity epidemic.
