Polls done by the Kaiser Family Foundation each month track public opinion regarding health care and health insurance. Results from these can be eye opening, and provide an opportunity to observe where the public stands on these issues.
The results from the April poll, reported by Medical News Today say: 71% are for increasing taxation on high income Americans in order to pay for the health care reform, 36% missed doctor and dentist appointments due to increased costs, 26% have a household member who had difficulty paying health care bills last year, 59% indicate health care reform has become more important, and 67% strongly or somewhat favor a national health insurance plan in order to compete with private plans.
Health care and health insurance reform are obviously becoming much more important to the American people as the days pass. There are also a large number of Americans becoming more in debt with the rising cost of health care.
The political process is thrilled to see these results as it helps them in their goal for health care reform. With the majority seemingly on their side, according to the Kaiser poll, there’s a possibility for history making legislation regarding a far reaching health care reform.
Polls are very subject to change depending on the whims of time. They give a good glimpse of current opinion but these opinions can change, especially if the economic crisis deepens. Then of course, the Democrats and Republicans have some disagreements on the approach to solving the issues in health care.
