If you watch TV these days you know that anti-wrinkle creams are all the rage. People of all ages use these creams to combat their wrinkles. If you are looking for a cream, it may take you several tries, but chances are you can find a good one for your skin.

Recently while visiting my dentist, I came across an article in a well known magazine. The title was abest wrinkle creama and this catchy title got me interested to read the article. There was the usual discussion of botox treatments, using sunscreens and leading a healthy life to slow down the process of aging.

This article made me realize that not every treatment is good for everybody. For example if you have dry skin, you may need a treatment that has oils in it, while if you are prone to acne you do not.

To find an anti-wrinkle treatment that will work you should first and foremost figure out what causes wrinkles. Everyone knows that exposure to sun is a main cause, but also vitamin deficiencies, getting plenty of sleep, drinking enough water, and maintaining a healthy weight all factor in.

A good wrinkle cream should contain sufficient amounts of vitamin E and vitamin A. As we age, the levels of vitamin E go down drastically, leading to wrinkles. Using an anti-wrinkle cream which has the correct amount of these vitamins will help to reduce wrinkles on your skin. Studies in homeopathy before 1991 showed homeopathy was more effective than a placebo on a 2 to 1 basis. Part II of our series will examine some more recent studies.

New set of trials done by the Swiss-UK review team showed homeopathy medicines to give the exact same effect as a placebo remedy. This study did have some trial issues and was considered by many not to be a properly conducted trial.

Our article will examine properly done homeopathy studies after 1991. All studies will not be included in this white paper but many of the larger and better conducted trials will be included.

Homeopathic Trials Below:

Placebo Effect Comparison With Homeopathy

A homeopathic study with 242 patients from the age 18 to 55 examined homeopathic effect on asthmatic people allergic to house dust. This trial was double blind and placebo controlled. The study showed homeopathy to be no better than a placebo. Some differences between the homeopathic group and placebo were present. However, this was not significant amount to change the trial results.

This trial was an effort to copy a favorable homeopathic study with allergies and asthma. The authors were not sure why the copied trial was failed. The first study was much smaller than the copied trial.

Another trial was done with 126 children to see if homeopathic remedies help kids with stomach ailments such as acute diarrhea. This study was randomized, double-blinded and placebo controlled with 116 children finishing the trial. The study found a difference between the placebo group and homeopathic group. The authors concluded homeopathy was better than a placebo for treating acute childhood diarrhea.

A trial with homeopathic arnica which examined whether this remedy can ease muscle soreness among long distance runners. 519 runners were in the trial with 400 people finishing the study. The study had a placebo group and homeopathic group. The study was randomized and double blinded. The authors showed no differences between the placebo group and the homeopathic group. The authors found arnica to have no effect on muscle soreness for long distance runners.

Six controlled clinical studies of meta analysis were done that indicate homeopathic remedies appear to be more effective than a placebo on rheumatic syndromes. There are not enough trails to draw a definite judgment about homeopathy and the trial conclusions were mixed.

Homeopathy’s most popular drug Oscillococcinum seems to show the most promise out all the other homeopathic remedies. Many large trials using this remedy seem to indicated a positive outcome for reducing the duration of the flu as compared to a placebo. Oscillococcinum results on flu prevention proved false. This remedy showed no signs of being able to prevent the flu.

Other successful trials on a smaller scale include perennial allergic rhinitis. The trials showed increased nasal flow as compared to the placebo. This was the fourth replication of this trial. It is noted the trial size was quite small.

In conclusion, more research needs to be done but some Homeopathic remedies are showing promising results in large double blinded placebo studies. Larger studies after 1991 showed approximately a 1 to 1 ratio of successful and not successful homeopathic trials.

Higher quality trials before 1991 show homeopathy working 2/3 of the time. A few of these studies have been replicated. Oscilloccoccinum was the only remedy were several researchers duplicated trials that were successful.

I knew a woman who had gained a great deal of weight in a relatively short amount of time. It was about 90 pounds in the course of two years. She had also been battling migraines.

Putting on that much weight in that amount of time is rather considerable and worth exploring any connections. I also felt it important to understand if she had been suffering from any other health concerns or using medications.

So you want a nice abdominal profile? Don’t worry ladies! Here are some simple and effective techniques that’ll help you get that great shape you’ve always wanted!

A little background before we get started on our exercises. The abdominal profile depends on the tautness of the abdominal muscles. The surface layer is called the rectus abdominis, popularly called the “six-packs”. The underlying muscle layers of obliques and transversus abdominis must be toned. Then and only then will your tummy lie flat like you want it to.

The muscles of the pelvic floor support the internal organs. If these muscles are weak, then the organs begin to bulge and sag. It’s just a matter of good luck that exercising the transversis also exercises the pelvic floor muscles. Having a baby results in a lot of strain on this set of muscles. So ladies who have just had a baby should especially exercise this set of muscles. Kegel exercises are designed to tone this pair of muscles. However most people do not do these exercises correctly, and consequently they are fairly ineffective.

Now that we understand the underlying physiology, let’s get on with these four very simple, safe, and effective exercises.

Belly Respiration

Take your basic position. Sit upright. Take a normal breath, comfortably deep. Notice whether your shoulders are rising. This is incorrect. Don’t move your shoulders, nor your ribcage. Just lower your diaphragm, lower, into your abdomen. This draws air into your lungs. Hold your breath for a count of 5 (this is not mandatory, less is alright). Complete the breath by lifting your diaphragm. Let it come right up pressing against the lower part of the lungs, squeezing out all the residual air. You can do this anywhere, anytime. Make it part of your daily routine.

Advanced Abdominal Respiration

This is an extension of your basic Belly Respiration. This exercise is performed lying on the floor. Keep your elbows pointed outwards while you hold the back of your legs. Now draw a breath using the basic Belly Respiration technique, but this time imagine that your belly button has to touch your spine.

Baby Curls

Lie flat on your back. Use your abdominal muscles to come up into a curved position, curling yourself forward. Take care not to use any other muscle as you do this crunch. Repeat this as many times as you can without discomfort. Stop whenever you feel discomfort. If you think that your muscles can’t take the stress, then go back to the breath exercises to build up your muscle tone first.

Lateral Lifts

Lie on your right side. Jack your body off the floor pushing against the floor with your right elbow. The body should be rigid, like a pole inclined to the floor. Practice this until you can hold this pose for ten to fifteen seconds. Now repeat the exercise, lying on your left side.

These four exercises are very straightforward, safe, simple, and effective to boot. The secret to getting your tummy into shape is consistency. Try to do these exercises everyday as part of your daily routine. Caution: If you feel uncomfortable or distressed whil3 doing these exercises, please stop exercising at once!
